  • About us...
Ancillary activities can be defined as those activities that enable the artist to execute or complete the artwork, and are those activities that can be completed by persons other than the artist without affecting the outcome, actual appearance, or quality of the finished work in any way.

Such activities include, but are not limited to, for example, the stretching of the canvas in the case of a painter, or the mixing of darkroom chemicals in the case of a photographer, or the matting, framing, and packaging of any type of art work.

Generally, persons performing ancillary activities are not considered part of the art-making process.  Although the employment of such persons is permissible, and in some cases necessary, a full disclosure of such activity must be made by the artist upon application for accreditation.

Both acceptable and unacceptable ancillary activities for any specific field are determined by the Panel of Experts in that field, and, upon request of the applicant artist(s), may be determined on a case-by-case basis.
